"If there's any environmental regulations that's preventing California from having a 100 percent max output at their plants, as I understand there may be, then we need to relax those regulations," Bush said.
I tell you, we are so doomed in the next four years. It's going to be worse than the Reagan/Bush era. When is the next flight to Mars departing? I think I want to start fresh in another planet!
My result on the Pyromania Purity Test:
- You answered "yes" to 1 of 100 questions, making you 99.0% pyro pure (1.0% pyro corrupt); that is, you are 99.0% pure in the pyro domain (you have 1.0% pyromaniac in you).
- Your Weirdness Factor (AKA Uniqueness Factor) is 33%, based on a comparison of your test results with 24313 other submissions for this test.
- The average purity for this test is 66.4%.
I need some motivation to workout. I want to do it but then I just don't feel like it. So yeah, I've gained some weight in two years and yada yada yada, but I don't want to keep buying work clothes. I want to be able to do some before going to work but I'm just too lazy to get up at 5:45am. I'm a sleepyhead, k? Maybe I should do a calendar/log of all the days I work out so I can motivate myself. I dunno, maybe do it with someone else (anyone?).

<whispering>For now I will keep blaming Eitel</whispering>
I'm just wondering how come I am #2 on a search for nasty web cam pictures =/

I took Eitel to Benihana. We don't go there that often, since usually we spend about $60 on both of us whenever we go. But you get sooo full and satisfied, you won't eat later on the day (night). I had Hibachi steak and Eitel had Rocky's Choice (steak and chicken). All I want to know is what's the name of the vegetable on the Hibachi vegetables. I know it has onion and mushrooms, but I can't identify the green vegetable.
Happy 31st birthday to my fiancé, Eitel!! Why don't you send him some loving email or even better, buy him something from his list *wink wink*
"Today, Zucker met with the cast of Friends last week and suggested expanding future episodes. The six stars reportedly will be paid extra for the additional scenes. (As if $750,000 an episode wasn't enough compensation.)"
Oh yeah, they work soooooooooo hard that they need extra compensation. I can use some of that money!

I have so many pictures of Fluffy, that I will make a page just for her. You think she will thank me? :P
I'm so sleepy right now

I can just picture Bush Jr. trying to say my name.. hahah if Antonin was difficult, then mine would be impossible.
Let the mania begin! My page under the Drug Slang Translator looks like this. What's even funnier, how it changed some of the links to other blogs: dan.el.opium, /usr/bin/cocaine, 2-(4-bromo-2,5 diethoxy-phenyl)-ethylamine diablo (see that Shannon? LOL).
Here I am at work, all alone. I don't get MLK off, so I'm one of the few people on this building. I have to prepare this visual presentation for a cataloging pilot we are developing. Cutting photos from catalogues and putting all the data on an Excel sheet is not that hard. Done deal. But I'm supposed to plot it on the HP Laser Jet 1055CM, one of those big ass (color) plotters with the huge and heavy roll of paper. As I start plotting the first sheet, I run out of paper. Go figure!! Can't find any paper around here, and even if I did, those rolls are heavy! I can carry that around here by myself. So there goes my plan for the day.
Anyone wants to hack this system for fifty grand?

I just washed my car yesterday and it's supposed to snow tomorrow. Go figure!
I got this on an email.. and damn it's all true!

Drawbacks To Working In A Cubicle
1) Being told to "Think Outside the Box" when I'm in the @#$%? box all day!
2) Not being able to check E-mail attachments without first seeing who is behind me.
3) Fabric cubicle walls do not offer much protection from any kind of gun fire.
4) That nagging feeling that if I just press the right button, I will get a piece of cheese.
5) Lack of roof rafters for the noose.
6) My walls are too close together for my hammock to work right.
7) Women: Damned near impossible to adjust your bra or slip without comment. Men: Co-workers tend to stare when you take your pants off.
8) 23 power cords, 1 outlet.
9) Prison cells are not only bigger, they have beds.
10) Can't slam the door when you quit and walk out
I can imagine this being a corporate standard at Ford. hehe I also know that Katie would want one :P

Ever wonder what other urinals look like? Not me, but someone did. I find the picture on the main page kinda disturbing. Once you browse through the pictures, I realized that the urinals in Asia look very high tech compared to ours.
I guess Alec Baldwin will be moving to Canada all by himself.

So out of curiosity I clicked on the link and one of the results was his page. What's on it? Pretty much advertisement for his book: "101 SURVIVAL SECRETS:How to Make $1,000,000, Lose 100 Pounds, and Just Plain Live Happily." I don't know what bothers me the most, the title of the book or the cover!
First it was the McDonald's chicken head, now it's the Dorito's fried snake. yuck!

So I got to beat Bar on Bejeweled. My score was 51,590 :-)
If you have registered on lately, I suggest that you go to their page and change your options to NOT receive any spam/calls from telemarketers. According to this thread in Metafilter, E-bay changed the preferences on about 6 million users because of a "software bug". Suuuuuure blame it on the poor bug. I checked mine and (luckily) they were still set to no.

I got a score of 612 on Word Power. It reminded me of the verbal part of the SAT's. I like how it gives you the definition of the word and it's origin.

In Puerto Rico we also celebrate Three Kings Day and Epiphany. Usually you get more gifts from family and then a get-together happens where you eat more food. But since the US influence in our culture is becoming more apparent these days, people are giving more importance to Santa Claus and Christmas than to the Kings. Now you get the good and neat presents on the 25th and the little, less important presents on January 6th. I remember that when me and my brothers were little, my granma wouldn't give us presents on Christmas, we had to wait until Epiphany to get them.
Note to self: must kill someone for leaving the alarm on at 7am ON A SATURDAY! I usually sleep in on the weekend, since I hate and despair getting up early on the week.
Isn't that the cutest thing? My cat doesn't eat sweets, she would rather eat paper! LOL
I was planning on playing more of the Sims tonight but my quick nap turned into a 4 hour sleep time. So now I can't go back to bed and don't feel like playing. Any sites out there that are worth checking?

With the suddenly (I say suddenly because it was working fine earlier in the week) slowdown on Blogger, do you people realize how many people have jumped over to Greymatter and Organizine? I won't because I'm lazy and I have a bit more patience.

Want to help Blogger? They do such a good job and I bet many people wouldn't even consider having pages if it wasn't for Blogger, so go ahead and donate.
Eitel got me The Sims two days ago, and I tell you, you really kill some time playing it. If only my sims would learn how to throw away their food and that when I tell them to go to bed it does not mean go to the fridge, I would be happy. And it looks like I'm not the only one with the addiction.

There's no better way to say goodbye to the Millennium than watching The Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Laboratory on the Cartoon Network.

I usually don't do any sort of lists/resolutions for the new year, but I think this time I will come up with some:
  • Try to work out more (sitting on the puter all day long doesn't help)
  • Get a raise
  • Do a better job around the house (but no cooking! I hate that)
  • Try to keep in touch with my friends
  • Save money for upcoming trips/emergencies

Some things I'm grateful for:
  • My health and that my family is healthy
  • My wonderful fiancé Eitel
  • Stopping at the animal shelter and chosing Fluffy from the bunch
  • For having food, a place to sleep and a job
  • For all the wonderful people that I've met online: Bandido, Caso, Shannon, Jish, venx, eden, ivjazz, sonia, Shamita, Betcha, Brooke, mel, Jen and many more (if I missed you.. sorry!)

Happy New Year!
I saw this in a signature at an UBB: Invest in America. Buy a congressman.
Brilliant!
Is there a Diablo II Players Anonymous support group around where I can point Eitel too? He is addicted to that game (so addicted that he played during our trip to PR). I think I will pick up an addiction of my own. Maybe I will buy the Sims.

Eitel used to be with them, but changed hosts after a month or so because his site was down for quite a bit. Why he received the email is beyond me.

I'm back. And to top it all: I'm sick, hungry, cold, tired and did I say cold? But finally I get to sleep in my comfy bed.

lunes, diciembre 25, 2000

Merry Christmas!
No snow here.. heh But so far I've received: a $125 JCPenney gift card from my parents, a watch and sunglasses from Eitel, a nice pair of Adidas tennis shoes from Eitel's mom, and I bought some jeans for myself. Not that much, but that's enough for me :)

Hope you all have a nice Christmas too. I will spend my day packing all my stuff and getting ready for the trip on Tuesday. Then my parents and some of their friends will come over to eat at Restaurant Puerto Esmeralda, a seafood restaurant owned by Eitel's parents.

sábado, diciembre 23, 2000

Right now it's 73 degrees here in PR.. while it's -5 degrees back home in Michigan. I just hope that the cold that just reappeared doesn't get any worse when I get back home on Tuesday. And I really hope that I can leave the airport. My car is probaby buried on the snow at the airport in Lansing.

jueves, diciembre 21, 2000

I don't know what's worse, the shopping crowds or the traffic to get in/out of the malls. If I have to go to the mall one more time I'm going to kill myself.

domingo, diciembre 17, 2000

I finally have some time to blog. Driving between my house and Eitel's house is no fun. Our trip was uneventful, even the drive to Lansing while it was snowing went by without a hitch. Ever since I got here it has been raining every single day. It rains real hard for 15-30 minutes then it stops and the sun comes out, meaning that it gets really humid. Besides that, everything else looks okay. The road signs look better, there is alot of road construction going on and the airport still sucks when it comes to handling your luggage. I had to wait 90 minutes for my luggage. ugh

My family is okay. My brother just got on a motorcycle accident yesterday. His friend came over to show his bike (a motorcross one) and he decided to give it a try. He really didn't know how to handle that bike all that well, so I guess he lost control after making an u-turn and crashed somewhere in between the light pole and this palm tree. We had to take him to the hospital and all; no fractures or permanent damage, he is just all banged up. It could've been worse but he got lucky. He spent almost 12 hours on the hospital while they did all the x-ray, blood tests, yada yada yada. Hospitals here are just the worst place to go to when your sick. Even the ambulances suck. After waiting for an hour for a stinking ambulance to show up my dad called a private one who charged him $105 for the trip.

I still have to do some shopping and go visit my granma down in Guayama (75 min drive), and maybe I will get to see some of my friends (well, the ones that will return my calls, it looks like nobody's home). Well, that's it for now, gotta go and get some sleep so I can get up early tomorrow for the shopping spree.

miércoles, diciembre 13, 2000

Our flight leaves at 6am from Lansing, but since it's snowing it looks like we have to leave around 2am. Usually the drive is around 75 minutes but knowing how they don't plow the roads around here, I'm estimating that it might takes us 3 hours to get there. I hate winter storms and I hate even more the non-existant plowing crews here in Michigan.

So, blogging will be sporadic for the next couple of days, because frankly, on a 80 degree weather, I won't be spending that much time on the pc.

My alma mater, Penn State is ranked #12 in the America's Most Wired Colleges according to Yahoo. And thinking that back in 1994 the only way you could get on the internet was on the row of Macs sitting on the corner of this room. I remembered using Gopher and a mainframe account to do email, and the PCs were running Windows 3.11
Here are some pictures from today's winter storm. And as if eight inches of snow weren't enough, we are supposed to get five more inches tomorrow. The roads in my apartment complex are still covered with snow. I might not be able to move my car tomorrow!

Opera 5.0 with ads was just released and it's free. Not bad at all.. moves much faster than Netscape 6. From what I can see, most of the pages look fine with Opera. If you create your pages adhering (sp?) to standards, you should be ok.
I wonder if this was their wedding present: bitting off the groom's testicle.
My boss' boss told us that we could go home at 2:30pm. Not bad eh? So it took me an hour and a half to get here, that includes a stop at the post office. All the accidents were cleared by the time I got home. But I wonder, where the hell are all those cleaning trucks? The roads are nasty, three to four inches of snow on them and not a single truck on site. Did they get the day off?
The weather people now say that we are going to get six to ten inches of snow (or is it four to six?). Either way driving is going to suck this afternoon. I will be getting out of here early. And to complicate my drive even more, I have to stop at the post office today.
After reading this article, I'm afraid to confess that I actually watched Saved by the Bell religiously every single day. Still, I can't believe that they released a soundtrack and a board game of the show. Now that I think about it, I should believe it, even 90210 had all those released.

domingo, diciembre 10, 2000

Forecast for tomorrow:
Snow developing by Noon. Accumulations of 1 to 2 inches
possible. Snow mixing with and possibly changing over to freezing
rain and sleet during the afternoon. Becoming breezy. Highs 27 to 32.
East wind 10 to 20 mph...Increasing to 15 to 25 mph.

Dammit, now I know what to expect on my drive home from work. Maybe I'll sneak out early to avoid the traffic on I-94.
Latest from RIAA, the U.S. Copyright office ruled that radio broadcasters are not exempt from licensing royalties when they simulcast their programs on the Internet. Does it means that now they have to pay the artist everytime they play their records both online and offline? And on their page it says that if you plan to broadcast your own radio station, you need to get a "performance license". Hum.. so all those people using Shoutcast to play songs are doing it illegally. Interesting stuff.
This is an interesting article on how to detect and try to lure away spambots from your site using Apache and PHP.

My TV family is: The Simpsons

Cue the blue skies, white clouds, and heavenly chorus — your family is most like everyone's favorite Springfield residents, The Simpsons! Your clan may not have spiky yellow (or blue) hair or only four fingers per hand, but Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie, and even Grandpa are still your family's TV soulmates. Sure, they squabble with the best of them (remember the time Bart burned Lisa's centerpiece? or when Homer ended up living in Bart's tree house after Marge got mad and threw him out?) but they always come through for each other when it counts. Look past the clever one-liners and surreal adventures, and you'll see a family with as much dysfunction — and as much love — as you and your nearest and dearest have in real life. So, to celebrate your Simpsonness, pull up a couch, grab a Duff beer, plop down in front of the TV, veg out, and thank your lucky stars that you don't have the Flanders family living next door!

Okay.. I'll just lay in bed with the laptop and the tv on. I love multitasking.

I'm so sick of this damn election deal. When will it end? Just keep Clinton for four more years, at this point I don't really care.

I know you people have some baby pictures laying around somewhere. Heck, I even found one here and I thought they were all back in PR. So why don't you go over here and submit your pic?

I'm going here in a week. Can't you tell I'm escaping from this freezing cold weather? The high is 87ºF during the month of December :-)
I don't want to sound mean but this is so funny, The Palm Beach Voter.
All free things always come to an end.

Today it was the mother of all traffic slowdowns. The roads were icy, snow was blowing all over the place and the idiots that think they can drive 85mph in this kind of weather were sliding and spinning all over the place. It took me over two hours to get to work, which is only 28 miles away (all highway). I'm just glad that I decided to get gas before hitting I-94, because I bet you a million bucks that I would've run out of gas on the interstate (I had a quarter of a tank left).

lunes, diciembre 04, 2000

It looks like this page can crash Netscape 4.7 under Windows 98 at work. Wow.. I never did such a good job at crashing something ;-)
Looked who jumped on the weblog bandwagon: Mr. Bush Jr himself... heheh And speaking of Bush, this is selling on e-bay. Go and bid folks, because that ballot machine it's going to be a collector's item one of these days.

I just noticed that Nikolai lives in Michigan, heck he lives about 35 minutes from me and I used to work about 10 minutes from Westland. Small world eh?
Everytime I watch the movie The Mighty I cry like a baby at the end. It's a beautiful movie that focuses on friendship and human spirit.
Congratulations Jen on your engagement!
Finally uploaded the new layout. And I swear, no more layouts for some time. At least until it stops snowing here in Michigan, and that's going to be around March or April (how long it will take me to break that promise? hehe). The picture it's from tonystone and the pattern on the blue part of the background is from Photoshop 6 and it's the one that Eitel used on his blog but I changed the opacity a bit. Fonts used: OCR A Extended, Tall Paul and vargas.

I've said it before... AOL IM sucks and this is one of the reasons why.
I got a new layout done, but I'm too tired to upload it right now. I made this wallpaper last week and instead of using it in my puter I decided to use it in my site.

*drooling* Maybe I want this phone, the Kyocera Smartphone (it's a digital phone and a PDA running the Palm OS version 3.5). Now, if someone can combine a PDA and an MP3 player in one digital phone, I would buy it... eventually.
X-Men and Spider-Man now have an ISP: MarvelOnline.net ("the official Internet service of the Marvel Universe"). But this one is not free, you have to pay $19.95 a month. I think I'll stick with my cable modem.
If I have to pay my taxes, he should too, especially when he makes (much) more money than me.

This is the forecast on the weather.com page for Ypsi: Unknown Precipitation. Unknown? They don't know if it's snow, rain, hail, dogs? Can't they stick their heads out their window and look up?
I hate the local UPN affiliate here in Detroit. Why do they have to show the NHL, NBA and MLB games when the good shows are on?

According to this page, the native indians of Jamaica used to call the island Xaymara, the country of the forest and the lakes. I always thought that the indians used to call the rivers that way. Isn't that pretty?
(btw, the translation from German to English on that page is not that bad, I got the link from the View menu on Netscape 6)
Men can halve the risk of a major heart attack or stroke by having sex three or four times a week, a specialist in cardiovascular disease said on Tuesday.
So which one do you think some men will chose, going to the gym or having sex? That's a no brainer.
I probably mentioned this before, but I want the Samsung Uproar. Too bad that it only works on the Sprint PCS network, because I have Verizon. Right now the digital phone I have is the Samsung SCH-411. The nifty thing is that it accepts voice dialing commands.
The other day I made another wallpaper, she is Sydney from Danger Girl.

I'm going to start a fundraiser. What for? So I can get one of these cool panoramic monitors. You can send the money to my PayPal account! ;-)
What did I learned after the election? This.
My favorite one: "You can have a national crisis in America without talking about sex!"
The best thing about the Holidays is that you get invited to all these Christmas dinners/parties and you don't have to pay to eat! :-) Of all the ones I can attend, I can only go to one though, because my vacation gets on the way.
I can't sleep. This is why I should go to bed early on Saturday, so I would follow on Sunday. But nooooo, Xaymara can't do that. I will regret it tomorrow morning (oops, today) at work.

When will Kozmo come to town? Or do I have to move to SF or Seattle so I can start ordering from them?
Looks like Bush is going to win. May the Force be with us because we are going to need it. And am I the only one who thinks the Florida Secretary of State needs a makeover?
addendum: Actually, she looked good today, but I saw this one picture in which she looked like a clown! I'm serious!
Arrested again... When is Robert Downey Jr. going to learn?
Can you say busted?
It's Sunday already, which means I have to work tomorrow. Dammit, I don't want to. I want my vacation!
