Our flight leaves at 6am from Lansing, but since it's snowing it looks like we have to leave around 2am. Usually the drive is around 75 minutes but knowing how they don't plow the roads around here, I'm estimating that it might takes us 3 hours to get there. I hate winter storms and I hate even more the non-existant plowing crews here in Michigan.

So, blogging will be sporadic for the next couple of days, because frankly, on a 80 degree weather, I won't be spending that much time on the pc.

My alma mater, Penn State is ranked #12 in the America's Most Wired Colleges according to Yahoo. And thinking that back in 1994 the only way you could get on the internet was on the row of Macs sitting on the corner of this room. I remembered using Gopher and a mainframe account to do email, and the PCs were running Windows 3.11
Here are some pictures from today's winter storm. And as if eight inches of snow weren't enough, we are supposed to get five more inches tomorrow. The roads in my apartment complex are still covered with snow. I might not be able to move my car tomorrow!

Opera 5.0 with ads was just released and it's free. Not bad at all.. moves much faster than Netscape 6. From what I can see, most of the pages look fine with Opera. If you create your pages adhering (sp?) to standards, you should be ok.
I wonder if this was their wedding present: bitting off the groom's testicle.
My boss' boss told us that we could go home at 2:30pm. Not bad eh? So it took me an hour and a half to get here, that includes a stop at the post office. All the accidents were cleared by the time I got home. But I wonder, where the hell are all those cleaning trucks? The roads are nasty, three to four inches of snow on them and not a single truck on site. Did they get the day off?
The weather people now say that we are going to get six to ten inches of snow (or is it four to six?). Either way driving is going to suck this afternoon. I will be getting out of here early. And to complicate my drive even more, I have to stop at the post office today.
After reading this article, I'm afraid to confess that I actually watched Saved by the Bell religiously every single day. Still, I can't believe that they released a soundtrack and a board game of the show. Now that I think about it, I should believe it, even 90210 had all those released.

Forecast for tomorrow:
Snow developing by Noon. Accumulations of 1 to 2 inches
possible. Snow mixing with and possibly changing over to freezing
rain and sleet during the afternoon. Becoming breezy. Highs 27 to 32.
East wind 10 to 20 mph...Increasing to 15 to 25 mph.

Dammit, now I know what to expect on my drive home from work. Maybe I'll sneak out early to avoid the traffic on I-94.
Latest from RIAA, the U.S. Copyright office ruled that radio broadcasters are not exempt from licensing royalties when they simulcast their programs on the Internet. Does it means that now they have to pay the artist everytime they play their records both online and offline? And on their page it says that if you plan to broadcast your own radio station, you need to get a "performance license". Hum.. so all those people using Shoutcast to play songs are doing it illegally. Interesting stuff.
This is an interesting article on how to detect and try to lure away spambots from your site using Apache and PHP.
