I just couldn't resist buying another digicam. We got the Kodak DC3200 for $175. At least this one is 1.2 Megapixels, the other one I have, the Afga ePhoto 780c it's only 0.35 Megapixels.
I completely forgot to watch the Miss USA pageant. Now I can't make fun of William Shatner :-(

viernes, marzo 02, 2001

I wonder why is William Shatner the MC of tonight's Miss USA pageant. If I recall correctly, they fired Bob Barker because he was "too old" for the job. I don't think Shatner is getting any younger.
They are interviewing this 87 yo man who calls himself the Disco stripper, Disco Ernie. He is from Indiana and I hear he is quite busy. LOL

I know this is old, but it always makes me laugh, in a "It sucks to be them" kind of way.

-----
The following is from a seminar called "Stress and Disease" by Dr. Nicholas Hall, an expert in psychobiology. He gave this example of a way of coping with job stress:

"When you have had one of those 'TAKE THIS JOB AND SHOVE IT' days, try this:

- On your way home from work, stop at your pharmacy and go to the section where they have thermometers. You will need to purchase a rectal thermometer made by *Q-Tip. Be very sure that you get this brand.
- When you get home, lock your doors, draw the drapes, and disconnect the phone so you will not be disturbed during your therapy.
- Change to very comfortable clothing, such as a sweat suit and lie down on your bed.
- Open the package and remove the thermometer.
- Carefully place it on the bedside table so that it will not become chipped or broken.
- Take out the written material that accompanies the thermometer and read it. You will notice in small print the statement that "Every rectal thermometer made by Q-Tip is PERSONALLY tested."
- Now, close your eyes and repeat out loud five times, "I am so glad I do not work in quality control at the Q-Tip Company."

Another reminder: Rent is due tomorrow, not in 3-4 days
blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
Sorry, I just can't stand watching the guy talk.

The Girl Scout cookies are here. I bought one box of Thin Mints (my favs), two of Tagalongs and one of Samoa. Now you have to guess how many days it will take me to eat them all.. heheh
Every morning my cat Fluffy follows me to the bathroom while I get ready, and pretty much everyday she gets up on the toilet and eats the toilet paper. I think that's so funny!
99 Minutes CD-R's might be coming near you soon. Imagine all the mp3 songs that you can fit in there.

Finally I found out why you can't see this page in Unix. Something to do with the way I set up the div layers. I guess I'll be going back to a mix of layers and tables. Got the code working but I'm not going to put it up today, because then I will have an excuse for not working out.
I took advantage of the $11.95 registrar transfer from Dotster and it finally came through today. I've heard good things about Dotster and you can't beat the price. At first I thought they were slow sending me the confirmation email, but after reading the instructions carefully, I realized that they first verify the whois information of the domain and then they send the email. doh! So it took about a week to transfer the domain. Bye bye register.com!
You would think that with all that money they have, some artists would know how to pick their gowns better, but obviously Toni Braxton didn't listen to anyone. She should've gone naked!

This solar photography looks so fake. If it wasn't for Physics I would've been an astronomer ;-)
Where did my weekend go? I want one more day :-(
I just want to know why the local UPN station has to show NBA, NHL and MLB games all year around. It pisses me off when there's a new Voyager episode and I can't watch it until the weekend. Same goes for Smackdown. I even hate it more when I can't watch both of them on the same week.
Another reason why you shouldn't use the stinky V-card feature in Outlook.

What's the point of getting a salary increase if it doesn't reflect on your paycheck? Also, I didn't realized how convenient direct deposit was until I had to go and pick up my check for the past four pay periods (payroll is all screwed up for some reason). Which means I have to stop at the bank inside Meijer and wait for the thing to clear. Sucks sucks sucks.

viernes, febrero 23, 2001

I better stop starting my posts with "I didn't know..." because it's making me look like an uneducated idiot! :P

jueves, febrero 22, 2001

I didn't know this was a frequently asked question =/
<link stolen=Betcha>
I didn't know people decorated ambulances with wallpapers. Anything to make the patient feel better, I guess.
If you have an E-bay account and you suddenly getting all these telemarketers phone calls, it's because E-bay decided to reset all the preferences to "yes" due to a technical glitch. This was back in January, but I went back in today after reading a thread in Metafilter and low and behold, they were changed to Yes. Sure, a glitch. When it happened a month ago my settings were just fine and dandy. Stupid E-bay!!!

I'm having trouble deciding who is the worst MC for an award show, The Wayans Brothers or Jon Stewart. Man does Jon suck!
The Grammy's are tonight and a bunch of people are going to be protesting just because Eminem is going to be there. People, if you don't like Eminem's lyrics, don't listen to them! Last I've heard we live in a free country where we can listen to whatever we want.

martes, febrero 20, 2001

I've done the Advanced Tae-bo tape for two days in a row (well, not the whole thing, just the cardio part.. around 35 minutes). I plan on doing it during the weeknights so I can have the weekends free. Lets see how long I can keep it up.
Where was I when all these place tickets' prices from United were up for grabs? I could've been in Paris by this time next week.

Why don't you sign Eitel's guestbook? It's feeling lonely.

To those who have Blogvoices, turn it off! It makes your site take forever to download, and I have a cable modem!
Why do I keep having these high school dreams? It has been two days in a row now, that I was going back to high school to keep on studying (what? I dunno, I already have my bachelor of science). Maybe I miss wearing the uniform (navy vest, white polo, plaid skirt, white socks and black shoes)?

MTV is showing a mini Daria marathon. I forgot how much I enjoy watching that show.
I usually don't eat breakfast, I just get up and head straight for work, but today I have a four-hour meeting and I need all the energy I can get. This meeting is going to be long and probably heated.
Dale Earnhardt dies after a multi-car accident on the Daytona 500. Such a sad story :-(

endorphine.net has some cool wallpapers. Go and download them now!
Somebody please stop me fron downloading fonts from Font Flood! I've downloaded 200 already.. to a total of 734.

Gladiator was good. If I had to decide between Gladiator and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon for Best Movie on the Oscars, I would be killed first because I can't decide! They are both awsome.
Finally I get the change to watch Gladiator. The only two things that bug me about the movie: Russel Crowe's deep voice and Joaquin Phoenix's mark on his upper lip.

viernes, febrero 16, 2001

It wasn't me
*does a happy dance*
I got a raise! And it's retroactive to January 1
*dances some more*
That means I will have some extra money laying around. Should I pay more bills or spend it?
And since I want to be l33t, All your base are belong to us
Want to apply for the next Survivor?

"You must be willing to travel at your own expense to be interviewed in April or May 2001 (or as otherwise scheduled by Producers) at one of the following locations nearest you; New York City, New York; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Boston, Massachusetts; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Baltimore, Maryland; Los Angeles, California; San Francisco, California; Denver, Colorado; Salt Lake City, Utah; Chicago, Illinois; Detroit, Michigan; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Green Bay, Wisconsin; Dallas, Texas; Austin, Texas or Miami, Florida."

So, if you live in the middle of nowhere you are screwed.

If you really want to know how to survive in the Outback, read this article on Time magazine.
Survivor spoiler for the West Coast: Mitchell gets kicked off, eventually, after a double tie with Keith. I just can't believe that bitch of Jerri is still in. God I can't stand her!

It looks like with each new version of Windows the amount of RAM required for installation doubles. According to some beta testers, the minimum requirement for the upcoming Windows XP is 128 MB of RAM and a Pentium 3 processor. Better get that memory now while is still cheap (128MB for ~ $60US)
I saw today Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. It was amazing! Those fighting scenes and the flying all over the place makes you go wow!
The new Game Boy Advanced looks neat. I bet Eitel is going to ask for one. And the cool thing is that it's backwards compatible with the older games.
I guess I forgot to blog this before, but lisette put up the cutest blog layout. I think the best layouts out there are the anime related ones.

lunes, febrero 12, 2001

There are around 12,000 users connected to Napster right now, and I can't think of a single song to download.

Facts of the Day:

- Oreo Cookies: The creme filling used in one year could ice all the wedding cakes served in the United States for two years! That's 4,724,000 three-tier wedding cakes.

- In ancient Rome, it was considered a sign of leadership to be born with a crooked nose.

- Celery has negative calories — it takes more calories to eat a piece of celery than the celery has in it to begin with.

- The striped skunk can fire its musk stream accurately for up to 12 feet, and even farther with a cooperative downwind.

- The original name of Pepsi-Cola was Brad’s Drink.

- An article titled "The Game of Golf for Women," which ran in an 1894 issue of Ladies' Home Journal, contained this droll comment about the sexes playing the game: "A gallant gentleman will not cheat a woman, and a woman at all worthy of consideration will not cheat anyone at all."

- The names of the six Gummi bears are Gruffi, Cubbi, Tummi, Zummi, Sunni, and Grammi.
Start saving now, because in April The Sims: House Party is scheduled to come out. Look at these screenshots. The last one is too funny lol

Boo hoo.. no more Baywatch

I don't know if this works, but if someone wants to try it:

Preventing People from Linking to Your Images
Add the following to the .htaccess file:
# Rewrite Rule for images
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER}
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://
You would replace the above with the domain name and path of the page that is referring to your domain. For example: www.their-isp.net/users/mypage/
The RewriteCond directive states that if the {HTTP_REFERER} matches the URL that follows, then use the RewriteRule directive. The RewriteRule directive will redirect any reference back to the referring web page.

Wow, no posts in two days! I've been sleeping pretty much all the time, but the flu is still here. Right now I'm craving some ice cream (even though it's twenty some degrees outside) so we are going to Baskin Robbins hoping that it's still open

jueves, febrero 08, 2001

I feel like crap today. I think I have the flu plus I have a stinky fever. This sucks! Needless to say I will be sleeping all day long, so don't expect any coherent postings today.
I was just wondering if anyone received the Blogger stickers promised during the server fund campaign.

miércoles, febrero 07, 2001

I wonder why the 90210 page is still up at the Fox website. Last I've heard, the show (finally) ended.
Dammit, I caught that flu/cold bug that's going around. I've been sleeping pretty much since I've got back from work. And to top it all, we ran out of medicine and I don't feel like going out to get more. Oh, and I missed Voyager and Temptation Island (I like to watch those ppl bitch and complain about their SO doing something they shouldn't do even do they are doing it also heheh).
The Undead Tech Support: because vampires need help too. I haven't laughed so much in a long time! LOL

Just when all the snow from last year and all the stupid ice on the sidewalks have (finally) melted, it snows again. Dammit. I live in the wrong state. I don't mind driving on snow, I just don't like the idiots that drive 90mph on it!
Not a surprise, a practicing attorney sues the Survivor's producers. The catch is that she was a contestant on the show (second one to get booted off, I think). I tell you, we live in the land of the lawsuits!

lunes, febrero 05, 2001

Look, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman decided to separate after 11 years. I just laugh at the reason: "Citing the difficulties inherent in divergent careers which constantly keep them apart, they concluded that an amicable separation seem best." Okay, and they really didn't know that before they got married? OTOH, now he is single! woohoo ;-)
For $65US plus car registration fees, you can register a college license plate with the logo of differents universities of Michigan. Someone says that they saw this one in NYC: (M)orons. If it's real, all I have to say is that it was very clever! Lets see, one from Wayne State would say (W)uss? lol
It looks like Microsoft and Fox hire their PI's from the same company:
Dispute may force Microsoft to delay Xbox launch.
Demented Tech Support, for the techie guy/gal in all of us.
On the Internet Addiction Test, I scored a 36:
You are an average on-line user. You may surf the Web a bit too long at times, but you have control over your usage.

Two years ago (while I was still in school), I might've scored a 75!

domingo, febrero 04, 2001

For some reason, this layout makes me want to start doing origami again. I used to be good at it when I was little. I even took some classes with a bunch of "old" people.
You would think that after watching The Princess Bride two times today I would be sick of it, but HBO is showing it again right now (I have seven HBO channels thanks to digital cable) and I'm watching it!
Finally got everything reinstalled! Now I have an AMD Thunderbird 800MHz with 320MB of RAM. Photoshop just opens so fast now.. yay!

sábado, febrero 03, 2001

Latest addiction: watching Iron Chef on the Food TV network. Even though I'm a picky eater, I like to watch how they prepare the dishes. I just can't believe it took me this long to get addicted to the show.
What a boring day! At least I got to relax watching tv and ST: Voyager (sorry Shannon lol). Tomorrow I'm going to get a new motherboard and a new chip, probably an AMD Athlon 750Mhz, so I'll spend all day backing up stuff and installing programs.

jueves, febrero 01, 2001

What a crappy day. First the news of Pyra and now this: Senate passes Ashcroft nomination.
I was looking at the page from my Unix station at work, and it looks like crap on Netscape 4.73 for Solaris. I really hope not that many people visit this page on Unix, because they will think that I suck in HTML. It looks fine in Windows 98, 2000 and in the MAC but not in Unix. I tried to fix it but couldn't get it to work. Unless there is a trick out there that I haven't heard off, no more messing around with the code for me.
Tracy from playfortoday.com has the cutest drawing of a cat on her blog. Makes me want to start drawing with my tablet (even though I suck at it).

miércoles, enero 31, 2001

I can't believe I had to tweak the layout around so it can look decent in Netscape 4.7 and Netscape 6. For some reason NS4.7 won't pick up the css on the right table over there so... This layout looks best in Netscape 6, IE 5.5 and with resolutions of 800x600 and above.

Candi, can you see the page in Netscape now? If not I will kill that counter! LOL
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the gift baskets (worth over $3,500) given to the participants of the American Music Awards included a digital camera/camcorder/PC camera, two-way Skytel pagers, a Casio wristwatch camera, Reebok sneakers, electronic stuffed animals, sunglasses, gourmet chocolates, hand-held video games, Polaroid cameras, clothing, accessories, aromatherapy products, backpacks, Fossil watches and a voice-activated TV remote. And if you thing that's not enough, for the Oscars, people got over $16,000 worth of goodies.

Did they really needed all that cool stuff? That's why I'm poor and they are rich. bleh
There can't be anything scarier than being a contestant on a pageant where William Shatner is going to be the MC.

martes, enero 30, 2001

LOL! I can't believe someone thought this $200 bill with Bush on it was real. C'mon people, wake up and smell the roses! LOL
Becky, I also have both astigmatism and myopia and I just love the contact lenses the doc recommended. They are the Acuvue 2 from Johnson and Johnson. I wear them every day for two weeks then I toss them out and open a new, fresh pair to wear (and if you buy them online they are cheaper, at least for me).
Repost: In case someone is still interested in the comments script.

I put together some instructions on how you can use the comments script I use here on your site with Blogger. You can see it right over here. You need PHP in order to get it to work. Any questions just let me know.

Tara also put up some instructions over here. She changed a couple of things so it can work also in the archives. (mine don't have them because I use includes for the archives therefore I don't need the changes).

I really want to get one of the new iGrills (aka George Foreman Champ Grill with Translucent BunWarmer). They look so cute than I might start cooking just to get to use it! (yeah, like that will ever happen, right Eitel?)
According to this article, I'm an ambitious driver who wants to project an image of success, all because my favorite car color is black. I dunno about that, since my car is a Ford Escort, all I feel is that I didn't had enough money to buy the VW Jetta I always wanted.
Talking labels on the Heinz ketchup bottles are back by demand. I don't even remember seeing them the first time they came out.

In the "you probably don't care" update on Survivor: first show and they already booted Debb off the tribe. I think she is the one that's engaged to her stepson.
Here comes SuperBowl XXXV, and what's this, MTV meets football? Who are they trying to reach out? Don't think all those beer guzzling-chip eating macho men want to see N'Sync and Britney Spears sing (well, maybe they won't mind Britney doing a strip show like she did on the MTV awards).
Hum... I'm #12 on this search: drink piss eat shit. All I want to know is.. why, why me? And what kind of person searches for that phrase.
I wonder how many extra hits is Snatch.com getting now that the movie Snatch is out. At least I gave them one, I just had to look at the splash page *giggles*

sábado, enero 27, 2001

In the lines or Am I *insert adjective here* or not, here comes Ugly people dot com. Rate women, couples, even celebrities! I wonder if there is an Am I Pókemon or Not page out there.

Do what Eitel says on this post.. it's a revelation! (Warning: if you get offended don't blame me!)
oh no.. Blogger is acting up again! :P to Blogger hehe
edit: Blogger is no longer acting up, actually it's posting very fast!

martes, enero 23, 2001

It looks like BlogVoices might go away due to problems with their hosting company. If you can run PHP, I can send you the copy of the commenting script I use (I got it from the Discuss section of Blogger, someone posted the script over there).
After sitting through a four hours of presentation this morning, I didn't feel like eating my poor little tv dinner for lunch. So I go to McDonald's and order the Big Mac combo to go. I get to the office and realize that one of the beef patties is missing! I have three buns and one beef pattie. Can I sue them for misleading advertisement? ;-)
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that doesn't mind getting Barbies as presents.

lunes, enero 22, 2001

First we have public pay toilets, next it will be pay water fountains! And it looks like they run on Windows 98, because they keep encountering "bugs" on them ever since they opened last week. I must remember to never move to Manhattan.

According to the Keirsey Temperament Sorter, I'm ISFJ (introversion-sensation-feeling-judgement), in other words a Protector. And my temperament is of a Guardian. So that makes me a Protector Guardian. I think most of it is accurate, specially the Guardian portrait.
